Goldendoodles are intelligent, friendly, and affectionate. The combination of the Golden Retriever’s loyalty and the Poodle’s intelligence makes them easy to train and wonderful companions. They are very people-oriented, energetic, and playful. Goldendoodles shed very little—some do not shed at all—making them a good option for people with mild allergies. They do require regular grooming every 6–8 weeks.
Don’t let the color fool you! When people hear “Goldendoodle,” they’re often surprised to see a black coat. I absolutely love black doodles—but I understand the reaction. Years ago, before I started breeding, the first Goldendoodle I met was black, and I was taken aback for a moment. Then it clicked—Poodles come in all colors, so of course it makes sense!
Black is also a dominant color, so when it’s part of the Poodle parent’s genetics, it’s natural for some puppies to be black.
